Q: What is SettleScan?
A: SettleScan is a rental search platform that brings together listings from all your local rental websites into one place. Instead of checking several rental sites, you can search once on SettleScan to see all the available apartments, houses, condos, and townhomes near you.
Q: Is SettleScan free to use?
A: Yes! SettleScan is completely free to use as a rental search engine. We also offer an optional paid subscription with extra features.
Q: How do I start my search?
A: Just type a city, neighbourhood, or address into the search bar on our homepage. You can filter by price, number of bedrooms, property type, and more.
Listings
Q: Where do SettleScan listings come from?
A: Listings are gathered from trusted rental websites, landlords, and property managers. When you find a home you like, we’ll direct you to the original source to get full details and apply.
Q: Why do I see duplicate listings sometimes?
A: A property might be listed on more than one website. SettleScan shows duplicates together so you can choose the original posting that works best for you.
Q: How often are listings updated?
A: Our system refreshes listings multiple times per day to give you the most up-to-date availability.
Renters
Q: Can I apply for a rental directly on SettleScan?
A: No, as we are just a rental aggregator, we only scan the biggest verified sites and show them to you. Applications are handled by the original listing site or landlord. When you click on a property, we’ll redirect you to the correct platform to apply.
Q: How do I know if a listing is real?
A: We only pull from trusted sources and monitor for fraud. Always use caution: never send money before viewing a property or signing a verified lease, and always be cautious with your security information.
Q: Can I save listings I like?
A: Yes. Simply create a free SettleScan account to save properties and revisit them later.
Q: Can I get alerts for new listings?
A: Yes. You can set up email alerts or push notifications for specific cities, neighbourhoods, or price ranges.
Landlords & Property Managers
Q: How can I post my property on SettleScan?
A: Currently, SettleScan aggregates from major listing sites. Direct posting options are not available on SettleScan. You may contact us at hello@settlescan.com to arrange a partnership so that we may host your listings.
SettleScan Swiper
Q: What is the SettleScan rental swiper?
A: Our rental swiper works like a dating app — swipe right on listings you like, swipe left on ones you don’t. It’s a quick and fun way to discover rentals that match your preferences without scrolling through endless lists.
Q: Do I need an account to use the swiper?
A: Yes, an account is required to browse, as creating one lets you save your swipes, track your favourites, and get personalized recommendations.
Q: Is the swiper free?
A: Yes, the swiper is free to use for all renters. Some advanced features may be accessible with our optional subscription.
Q: How do I see my favourites?
A: There is a “My Favourites” button that allows you to rediscover every favourite you’ve made so far. You can also clear your favourites by clicking the “Remove All” button.
Q: Can I see what I recently viewed?
A: There is a recently viewed section within the home page of SettleScan that tracks all the listings you’ve clicked on.
Payments and Safety
Q: Do I ever pay SettleScan directly for rent?
A: No. SettleScan never handles rent payments. Rent is always paid directly to the landlord or property management company.
Q: How do I avoid rental scams?
A:
Only pay through secure, traceable methods.
Be wary of landlords who won’t show the unit in person.
Report suspicious listings to which sites they’re hosted on immediately.
Keep confidential information private unless you are fully confident.
Q: Could some listings be fraudulent?
A: This is out of our control, as we only pull listings from other trusted and verified sites. We cannot control how they regulate their site, which is why it is up to the user to always be cautious in regard to the legitimacy of a listing.
Account & Settings
Q: Do I need an account to search?
A: No. You can search without an account. An account is only needed to be redirected, save searches, set alerts, or manage preferences.
Q: How do I reset my password?
A: Click “Forgot password?” on the login page and follow the steps to reset.
